Drawing from my own experience of growing up in a rural area going through a process of depopulation and industrialised deforestation, I focus on peripheral narratives of survival and resistance. My work navigates the lore of a world post climate collapse and tells a story that is inhabited by people, plants and machines that have survived together through symbiotic relationships. This mainly takes shape as different types of wearable equipment and tools – a practical array of
devices for biological survival. Our visions of the future are shaped by shifting expectations of necessity and perceptions of who gets to be a part of nature. Inspired by the methods and aesthetics of camping equipment, preppers and sci-fi I make electronic circuits, sculptures and performances that measure, move and create energy in a labyrinthine ecosystem of interconnected elements, highlighting the ways in which survival can be a collaborative effort across different
forms of life.
I am a founding member of trans*feminist collective In-grid. I currently have a studio at SET Woolwich in London.
